Copyright & DMCA
Nearly everything on America's Strongest Gym™ is submitted by athletes and gyms. We respect copyright, we act on valid complaints quickly, and we cut off people who make a habit of infringing. This page explains how to tell us about a problem and what happens next.
Reporting infringement
If you own a copyright (or act for someone who does) and believe something here infringes it, send a notice to our designated agent at info@americasstrongestgym.com with the subject line “DMCA Notice.” To be effective under the law, your notice must include all of the following:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you say was infringed.
- Identification of the material you want removed, and enough detail for us to find it — the page URL and the athlete, gym, and lift are ideal.
- Your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.
A notice missing these elements may not be actionable. Misrepresenting that material is infringing can make you liable for damages, including costs and legal fees, under 17 U.S.C. §512(f).
What we do about it
On a valid notice we remove or disable the material promptly, take the lift off the leaderboard, and notify the person who submitted it, passing along your notice. We may act on the whole of a gym's or athlete's entries where the same problem runs through them.
If we took down something of yours
If your submission was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the same address. It must include your signature; identification of the removed material and where it appeared; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification; and your name, address, and telephone number, together with your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if you are outside the United States, for any district where we may be found) and your agreement to accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice.
If we receive a valid counter-notice, we forward it to the original complainant. Unless they tell us they have filed a court action seeking to restrain the activity, we may restore the material in 10 to 14 business days.
Repeat infringers
Accounts, gyms, and athletes who repeatedly infringe are terminated and blocked from submitting again. This is not discretionary — it is a condition of the protection the law gives platforms like ours, and we apply it.
A practical note on music
Most lifting videos have whatever was playing in the gym on them, and recorded music is somebody's copyright. We are not going to pretend otherwise: if a rights-holder objects to a track in a video, the video comes down. If you want a lift to be durable — and repostable on our channels — film it with the music off, or mute the audio before you submit. It also makes the lift easier to judge.
Our own material
The ASG name, logo, wordmark, site design, and generated graphics are the property of RampTec. The branded clips and graphics we produce for a gym are yours to post freely on your own channels. Everything else needs written permission.
